Being a Member in Good Standing at The Evidence Church
Benefits and Responsibilities of Being a Member in Good Standing at The Evidence Churches
Definition: A member in good standing is one who actively attends worship, supports the ministry financially (through tithes and offerings), participates in church life, submits to spiritual leadership, and upholds the biblical and ethical standards of our fellowship.
⸻
SECTION I: Benefits of Being a Member in Good Standing
1. Spiritual Covering and Protection
• As a recognized covenant member, you are covered under the spiritual authority of the church leadership. This means your life, household, business, and personal endeavors are regularly lifted in prayer by the pastor, elders, and intercessors.
• During times of spiritual warfare or personal crisis, you benefit from apostolic and prophetic insight and deliverance ministry (Psalm 91:1; Hebrews 13:17).
• You’re part of a spiritual army that watches over each other’s soul.
2. Access to Pastoral Care and Ministry Services
• You receive priority access to pastoral care, including:
• Individual and family counseling
• Crisis intervention and hospital visits
• Baby dedications and premarital counseling
• Baptism and new member instruction
• You also have the right to request the pastor or ministers for weddings, funerals, and special events. Pastoral honorariums are still customary and appreciated but not waived.
3. Use of Church Facilities at No Cost
As a member in good standing, you are granted free use of The Evidence Church facilities for:
• Weddings
• Funerals

• Please note: Honorariums for ministers, musicians, and staff are separate and expected.
• Non-members or members not in good standing will be subject to full rental fees for use of the building and equipment.
4. Inclusion in Church Decision-Making
• You are invited to participate in church business meetings, votes, and strategic decisions regarding the ministry’s direction and growth (Acts 6:3-5).
• Members in good standing are considered for key appointments and leadership roles and may contribute to the vision and execution of church projects.

• Members receive annual giving statements for tax purposes and are included in stewardship teachings.
• You become part of a system where the faithfulness of the few blesses the many.
⸻
SECTION II: Challenges the Ministry Faces Without Accountable Membership
Without active and accountable members, the health and growth of the church is hindered in key areas:
1. Ministry and Leadership Burnout
• When members do not serve, the burden falls on a few, leading to exhaustion, discouragement, and burnout among faithful workers.
2. Decreased Financial Stewardship
Lack of tithes and offerings creates:
• Limited ability to help others
• Delayed building maintenance or growth
• Cancelled outreach events
• Financial inconsistency destabilizes progress.
3. Broken Accountability and Spiritual Drift
Members without accountability are prone to:
• Doctrinal confusion
• Falling away from spiritual disciplines
• Gossip and disunity
• The church cannot effectively correct or restore when members reject accountability.
4. Loss of Kingdom Impact
Without dependable members, our reach shrinks:
• Fewer souls are saved
• Fewer lives are changed
• The community sees inconsistency and questions the witness of the church
5. Unmet Needs and Unrealized Vision
• Vision without participation remains a dream.
• Without faithful members, the dreams God gave to the house go unfunded, understaffed, and unfulfilled (Habakkuk 2:2-3).
⸻
Encouragement to Commit
Being a member in good standing is not just a title — it’s a testimony.
It’s a declaration that you are:
• Accountable to God,
• Aligned with the house,
• Active in the work,
• And anointed for purpose.
